St. Louis Cardinals all-star pitcher Adam Wainwright is known being a great teammate off of the field. His kindness and generosity have been well-documented over the years. However, he is also not someone to mince words and is willing to make his opinion known. Wainwright recently expressed his frustration with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred by proclaiming, “he doesn't do anything for us.”

Plenty of stars reacted to the MLB lockout coming to an end, but not all of them were this straight forward about their issues with the commissioner. Wainwright's comment could be taken out of context but he also made sure to say that he meant nothing personal by his statement. However, he and other players around the league feel that Manfred does not represent their best interests. It makes sense for Wainwright to say something since he is a veteran who has been in the league for a longtime and holds the respect of those around him.

If Manfred was going to listen any active player, Wainwright would undoubtedly be near the top of the list. Other players such as Zach Britton, Tyler Glasnow, and Kevin Kiermaier echoed a similar sentiment by making their opinions known on the matter as well.

Manfred's reputation around baseball has been tarnished ever since he decided to grant the Astros players immunity in 2019 following news of their cheating scandal. He has since referred to the World Series trophy as just a “piece of metal,” and was even caught smiling during a press conference where he was announcing that MLB would be suspending more games.

Wainwright seemingly made the correct choice by at least saying something about the commissioner.
