Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals fared just fine without Andy Isabella in their preseason opener. Still, the Cardinals will no doubt be even more difficult to cover once their second-round pick makes his on-field debut next week.

According to team reporter Darren Urban, first-year coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Friday that Isabella is expected to play in Arizona's second preseason game next week after sitting out Thursday's contest.

Isabella missed several practices after suffering a minor knee injury on August 2. The Cardinals never expressed any concern about the severity of his injury, and welcomed him back to practice on Tuesday. He missed Thursday's 17-13 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers as a precautionary measure.

The No. 62 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Massachusetts, Isabella was one of the most productive receivers in all of college football last season. He caught 102 passes for 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning All-America honors and being named a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff award, given annually to the top wide receiver in the NCAA. Those eye-popping numbers are especially impressive because Isabella entered college as a running back, only switching to receiver following his freshman season.

At 5-foot-9, 188 pounds, Andy Isabella compensates for his lack of size with blinding speed, elite agility, and high-level route-running ability. He's fighting for playing time to be the Cardinals' third receiver behind future Hall-of-Famer Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk, a second-round pick last year primed for a bigger role in 2019.

Kyler Murray, the No. 1 overall pick of this year's draft who's already entrenched as the Cardinals' starting quarterback, played well in his NFL debut on Thursday night, completing 6-of-7 passes for 44 yards before leaving the game after just one series.
