The league has been forced to take unprecedented action in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It seems the Arizona Cardinals could be among the teams that continue to take precautions well into the 2020 NFL season.

Now that the schedules have officially been released, teams can properly prepare for the grind of a long season from a logistics standpoint. Team owner Michael Bidwill has already acknowledged the prospect of the team staying at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia during their trip to the East in Week 4 and 5, via Darren Urban of the team’s official website:

“[General Manager] Steve [Keim] and I talked about it [Thursday] morning and I think, would we look at it? Yes,” Bidwill said. “We will look at The Greenbrier, we will look at some other places too. We’re going to analyze that as we get deeper into the details. It’s exciting to try and minimize that East coast, three-hour time change and the long flights. Having those two back to back are great.”

The Cardinals will be squaring off against the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets in those weeks. While these may be extremely winnable games, it is clear that the front office is already looking for ways to lessen their travel load. Not having to deal with the time change on back-to-back weeks could certainly help pay huge dividends.

Arizona has generated plenty of hype with their notable additions to the roster this offseason. Of course, playing in arguably the most competitive division in the league with the NFC West is hardly ideal. This is all the more reason for them to take advantage of the more lax areas of their schedule.
