While we’re still a couple of hours away from the start of the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals have wasted no time in apparently letting it be known who they plan on starting the night with.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Pro Football Talk), Washington cornerback Byron Murphy is the “heavy favorite” to be taken by the Cardinals at the start of the second round, if the Cardinals do end up holding on to their pick.

Of course, that nugget at the end of Schefter’s tweet is very important, as the Cardinals could very well be leaking this information purposely in an effort to garner trade requests, especially if they think other teams are extremely high on the talented cornerback.

Still, the Cardinals have had a pretty rocky offseason with their players, including veteran defensive back Patrick Peterson, so shoring up a depleted secondary could also be a big priority for the Cardinals. The team has already added Robert Alford and Tramaine Brock this offseason, so they could be looking to continue beefing up the backfield.

The Cardinals will also likely be trying to make noise in the trade department when it comes to quarterback, as the teams selection of Kyler Murray as the first overall pick has all but assured the league that Josh Rosen will be moved.

It remains to be seen where exactly Rosen goes, but with a handful of teams still searching for a franchise quarterback, the Cardinals likely won’t have to wait long.
