The Arizona Cardinals have freed up cap space by reworking Chandler Jones' contract. It's unknown yet whether they'll join the Jalen Ramsey sweepstakes, but the cap flexibility will allow them to have a better shot at landing him if they do.

Adam Schefter detailed that the Cardinals will be freeing at least $4 million with the restructured contract. This enables them to make a bombastic trade during the season.

They aren't listed among the teams reported being interested in his services. However, they should be able to provide a decent trade package that would convince Jacksonville to send him their way.

Of course, getting a star player through trade and actually getting them to buy into your system are two different things. If he doesn't want to play for the team, they may be just wasting their time and effort.

It's not hard to see why they'd consider trading for the corner, though. In the three years he's been in the league, he's made the Pro Bowl twice and the first-team All-Pro once. He made nine interceptions and 202 tackles in his short career.

The move can also be seen as the team preparing to make an extension. There are a good number of players in their depth chart that deserve a new contract. They could definitely head in that direction if they don't try for Ramsey.

Whatever the decision of the front office is, it cannot be denied that they made a good decision by making space in their cap space. If they make the right move, they might be able to make their squad better immediately.
