Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill didn't hide his disappointment over the team's failure to go deep in the NFL playoffs while their division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, are facing off in the NFC title game.

The Cardinals were one of the most dominant teams early in the 2021 season, winning seven straight games to start before losing steam in the second half of the campaign. They ended up second in the NFC West behind the Rams, but there were high expectations they can recapture their early season form and actually make a splash in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, that was not the case as they fell to the Rams in the Wild Card round. As everyone knows, the LA franchise went on to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round to set up a shocking conference championship matchup with the 49ers–who got through after defeating the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers.

Bidwill admitted he is “bothered” by the fact that both teams made it to title game while they were sent home packing early.

“Anytime you see your direct competitors in the playoffs, it should bother any football fan, and it certainly bothers this one,” Bidwill said, per NFL.com.

True enough, the Cardinals have a lot to work on to get them over the hump. They certainly have the talent to compete at the highest level, but they just seem to be missing a piece or two to break through.

Their latest playoff loss and the 49ers-Rams title match, however, could be just the motivation they need to catapult themselves to the next level.
