The Arizona Cardinals are doing with they can to stay competitive in an NFC West division that has been flipped upside down in the last two years. Although the team wasn't able to land a franchise-caliber quarterback in NFL free agency, the team is staying aggressive in their pursuits to give veteran Sam Bradford some weapons downfield.

Along with star wideout Larry Fitzgerald returning for the 2018 campaign, the team has added journeyman Brice Butler into the fold. According to James Jones of NFL Network, the former Dallas Cowboys receiver is headed to Arizona on a multi-year deal.

Butler played in 13 games for the Cowboys last season recording only 15 receptions. Although that's limited, to say the least, Butler did rack up 317 receiving yards and three touchdowns when he was on the field for Dallas.

The 28-year-old wideout became increasingly frustrated with his limited role in Dallas and made it clear to Jerry Jones and company that he wouldn't be returning to the Cowboys if he wasn't made a starter. Obviously, the Dallas brass had other ideas and Butler decided it was time to move on.

In Arizona, Butler will likely have the opportunity to play a bigger role. Fitzgerald will almost certainly remain the number one option at wide receiver with the team while Butler could very end up being next in line for Bradford.

The Cardinals also expressed interest in free agent wide receiver Jordan Matthews. The veteran wideout reportedly has a deal on the table in Arizona, but that may no longer be the case with the signing of Butler on Monday.
