The Arizona Cardinals have waived linebacker Thurston Armbrister, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Armbrister played in just one game for the Cardinals this past season before being placed on the injured reserve list on Dec. 11. He logged one tackle in his only appearance before suffering a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old landed with Arizona in late November, joining the practice squad nearly two months after being released by the New York Giants. He was then activated from the practice squad two days after joining.

Armbrister, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, went undrafted in 2015 but ended up signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent.

He proceeded to play in all 16 games with the Jaguars that next season, making three starts. He finished with 18 tackles and was then waived by Jacksonville just before the start of the 2016 campaign.

Armbrister then landed with the Detroit Lions, where he bounced around between the practice squad and the active roster for a year. He actually ended up appearing in 14 contests with the Lions in 2016, starting two games and recording nine tackles.

The Hollywood, Fl. native then signed a reserve/future contract with the Giants in January 2018, but he did not play in a single game with New York before the team parted ways with him this past October.

The Cardinals are coming off of a miserable 2018 campaign in which they won just three games, resulting in the firing of first-year head coach Steve Wilks. Arizona then hired Kliff Kingsbury as its new head coach last month.
