The Arizona Cardinals do not exactly have a great defense, as they rank 29th in the NFL in yards allowed and 28th in scoring defense, but now, they have their best player back.

Cornerback Patrick Peterson returned from a six-game PED suspension this past Sunday against the New York Giants and played a pivotal role in helping the Cardinals defeat the New York Giants, logging seven tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

Afterward, linebacker Chandler Jones, who had a monster game in his own right, said he knew all along that Peterson's return would give the Cardinals' defense a boost.

“I knew that he was going to help,” Jones said, according to Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' team website. “I knew the quarterback was going to have to hold the ball more. And the quarterback being a rookie, I felt that would help us, too. It was great. This was great for our team and hopefully this win kind of gives us a snowball effect and we just stack them.”

Arizona held the Giants to just 21 points in a six-point win and improved to 3-3-1 on the season, keeping itself on the fringe of playoff contention in the NFC.

Up until this year, Peterson had never missed a game since entering the NFL as a fifth overall pick back in 2011. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons, notching three First-Team All-Pro selections along the way.

The Cardinals will now head on the road to take on the New Orleans Saints next weekend.
