On Monday, former Buffalo Bills linebacker Tanner Vallejo was officially waived by the Cleveland Browns, his second NFL franchise in as many seasons. However, it did not take the up-and-coming defender long to find his third NFL home as Vallejo has now been claimed off waivers by the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals formally announced the roster move on Tuesday afternoon.

“Like the Cardinals, the Browns also had the No. 1 spot in waiver claims when they claimed Vallejo last season,” the Cardinals noted in the team's official statement regarding the matter. “Among the linebackers already on the Cardinals' roster are Josh Bynes, Haason Reddick, Dennis Gardeck, Joe Walker and Zeke Turner. Deone Bucannon and Gerald Hodges are scheduled to be unrestricted free agents, while Jeremy Cash, coming off a serious knee injury, will be a restricted free agent.”

The 24-year-old Vallejo, who appeared in 13 regular season games en route to making one start for the Browns in 2018-19, recorded 20 tackles and one forced fumble as a defender. Vallejo added seven special teams tackles for the Browns while ultimately being placed on injured reserve back on December 28th due to a nagging hamstring injury.

Prior to arriving in Cleveland ahead of this past season, Vallejo previously suited up for the Buffalo Bills, who originally selected the linebacker in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Boise State. Lasting just one season in Buffalo, though, he appeared in 15 regular season games as a member of the Bills and registered four total tackles on defense.
