Before the start of the 2018 NFL season, the Arizona Cardinals were able to work out a three-year, $39 million extension with star running back David Johnson to keep him under contract through the 2021 season.

During a recent interview with Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Station, Johnson voiced that he believes his agent did a “great job” to help secure a lucrative contract, via Carson Field of Arizona Sports.

“I talked to my agents, and they know what’s best for me,” Johnson told Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. “And talking to them, we made the decision, and we got the deal.

“I feel like my agent did a great job. I feel like the deal we got done was the best deal that I could get.”

There had been much talk surrounding Johnson's long-term future with the franchise, which is something that he chose to not delve into a great deal during training camp and the preseason, which his agent had swiftly taken care of before it became a lingering issue. This now allows for both sides to move forward with the focus on helping the Cardinals reach much success with him as a primary factor offensively.

Things did get off to a shaky start with Arizona suffering a disappointing 24-6 loss to the Washington Redskins. Johnson's role was minimized as he had just nine carries for 37 rushing yards and a touchdown along with five catches for 30 receiving yards. It was a game that the Redskins had control over throughout that never truly saw the Cardinals gain control at any point that put them playing from behind throughout.

However, the Cardinals have a chance to get back on the right track against a formidable opponent in the Los Angeles Rams, who are coming off a strong season opener win over the Oakland Raiders. It is a chance for Johnson to get on track to start showing his massive worth to the franchise.
