The Arizona Cardinals are hoping to extend their three-game winning streak on the road against the New Orleans Saints in Week 8. It remains to be seen whether or not they will have running back David Johnson available.

Johnson has been nursing an ankle injury that kept him out of practice all week. General manager Steve Keim says he will be a game-time decision, via Darren Urban of the team's official website:

GM Steve Keim said that the status of RB David Johnson for Sunday's game will likely be a game-day decision again.

This is hardly the most encouraging update regarding Johnson's status. Regardless, it is clear that Keim is holding out hope he will be ready to go for Arizona once game-time rolls around.

The Cardinals have enjoyed a resurgence as of late following a slow start to the 2019 NFL season. They have now managed to win three straight games on the back o their high-scoring approach. The onus will undoubtedly be on the offense to continue putting up big numbers if this team is going to have a chance.

The prospect of Johnson having to miss any time would leave a notable void in the backfield. His versatile skill set makes him an ideal fit for Arizona's pass-heavy approach with quarterback Kyler Murray. He and Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey are the only to running backs to register 300 yards rushing and receiving this season.

If Johnson is unable to play, running back Chase Edmonds will be looking to replicate his massive three-touchdown performance in Week 7.
