Household names throughout the NFL caused quite a storm on Twitter with their “We Want To Play” hashtag. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Deandre Hopkins and quarterback Kyler Murray were among those to use their platforms to express concern over the lack of safety protocols amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Although Cardinals (and NFL) training camp is set to begin in the coming weeks, players have not been given any information about health guidelines to prevent any potential outbreak. Hopkins took to Twitter to remind fans of what they will lose out on if the league does not provide a safe work environment for players:

Murray also expressed his belief that this is still an issue so close to the start of Cardinals training camp while maintaining his and others' desire to play.

The frustration by Hopkins and Murray from the Cardinals hardly comes as any surprise considering the precautions the NBA and MLB made sure to take in order to play out their respective seasons. The NFL's failure to follow a similar course of action that put a priority on player safety could now lead to a significant setback to the 2020 NFL season.

The Cardinals made headlines with their lopsided acquisition of Hopkins from the Houston Texans this offseason as part of their efforts to build on their offensive resurgence from last season. His arrival has helped generate plenty of hype heading into the 2020 campaign, however, their debut could be delayed significantly if the NFL fails to take action by the time training camp rolls around.
