Robert Nkemdiche, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals and a 2016 first-round draft pick, hasn't had the career he hoped for. He tore his ACL late in the 2018 offseason, had an incident with the police in that same offseason, showed up overweight to training camp, got his fifth-year option declined, and finally, was waived.

Now, he has cleared waivers, according to Pro Football Talk. None of the 31 other teams decided to take the gamble on his $1.1 million contract.

However, that doesn't mean the former Ole Miss standout won't have a market. The 6-foot-4, 314-pound defensive lineman flashed his potential with the Cardinals in 2018. Last season, Robert Nkemdiche recorded the first sack of his career and finished with 4.5. He compiled 32 total tackles, seven QB hits, nine tackles for loss, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble in 10 games.

Nkemdiche has been looking for his true NFL position since entering the league. He's a big, athletic defensive lineman with a capable bull-rush, but he lacks finesse and a plan when pass rushing. In 2018, he might've found his role: 4-3 defensive tackle. Nonetheless, finding his next home may take a while.

Robert Nkemdiche isn't yet in NFL playing shape. As stated earlier, he showed up overweight to training camp and is still rehabbing a torn ACL. But, at 24 years old with a good athletic profile and once- increasing stock, a team may eventually bite on taking him in. Yet, it may not happen until the regular season picks up and he's in shape to play snaps. As of now, his market appears to be dry.
