Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum has led the team back into the playoff conversation following a disappointing beginning to the 2021-2022 NBA season. However, Tatum has apparently been paying attention to more than just basketball, as he recently  took to Twitter to share his reaction the to news of Albert Pujols returning to St. Louis to join the Cardinals.

Tatum is a St. Louis native who likely grew up watching Pujols dominate the National League. Pujols was arguably the best player during his time with the Cardinals and led the team to two World Series victories in 2006 and 2011 before signing with the Angels in 2012.

The future Hall of Famer currently sits at 679 home runs and could pass Alex Rodriguez for fourth all-time and potentially even join the 700 home run club with elite names such as Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Barry Bonds this season.

However, even if Pujols fails to pass A-rod or reach the 700 homer club, he will still undoubtedly be a first ballot Hall of Famer. He is a three-time MVP who has made 10 All-Star appearances during the course of his storied career.

Although Pujols will not bring much in terms of on the field impact at this stage of his career, he is someone who can be a mentor for younger players. He is also a proven winner and could be a vital piece of a Cardinals postseason run in 2022.

As for Jayson Tatum, the Celtics currently sit tied for first place with the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. He has established himself in the MVP conversation with his 27.1 point per game and 8.1 rebound per game average.

Tatum will look to lead Boston to the NBA Finals while keeping tabs on Albert Pujols and his hometown Cardinals success this season.
