The Arizona Cardinals hope to bounce back from a disappointing 2017 campaign this season with a relatively healthy team that ready to prove their doubters wrong this year. Although quarterback Sam Bradford and running back David Johnson are healthy and ready to go, another vital offensive weapon for the Cardinals is not with tight end Jermaine Gresham inactive for Week 1 against the Washington Redskins.

According to CBS Sports, Gresham will miss the team's season opener on their home field at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

Gresham managed limited practices all week, only to be ruled out on the first game day of the season. The development isn't a shock in the slightest considering he tore his Achilles in Week 17 of last year. With that knowledge, he may be closer to week-to-week than approaching a return to the field. While Gresham's recovery continues, Ricky Seals-Jones should be the primary pass-catching tight end, even if he yields starts to Gabe Holmes, as he did in the preseason.

The Cardinals will be looking to take their offense to another level this season and having one of Bradford's prime targets off the field is not a good start for Arizona. Veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is the team's best option in the passing game, but without other legitimate threat on the field on Sunday, he may find it difficult to produce while potential double covered all game long.

Last season, Gresham played in 14 games for the Cardinals finishing with 33 receptions for 322 yards and two touchdowns.
