Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney died in a car accident on Monday morning. Gladney was just 25 years old.

Reactions to this tragic death are now coming in, with Cardinals star J.J. Watt taking to Twitter to express his sorrow:

The Cardinals put out this statement:

Arizona signed Gladney to a two-year deal earlier this offseason. He was initially drafted 31st overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 out of TCU. The cornerback was a superstar as a member of the Horned Frogs, which helped him get selected in the first round. He racked up 81 total tackles as a rookie for Minnesota.

Gladney was released by the Vikings in 2021 after he was arrested for domestic violence. However, he was ultimately acquitted of the charges in March. This gave him another chance in the NFL, and he wound up joining the Cardinals not long after he was found not guilty. Arizona was hoping the 25-year-old would rejuvenate his career with the franchise after his legal troubles.

Sadly, Gladney has now been lost far too young after this devastating car accident. This is a tough loss for the Cardinals and the NFL community as a whole.

Rest in peace, Jeff Gladney.
