It looks like star defensive end JJ Watt is not one bit bothered by the rumors linking his current head coach, Kliff Kingsbury, to a job away from the Arizona Cardinals.

As reported earlier, Kinsgbury has reportedly been identified as a target of the Oklahoma Sooners football team as a potential replacement for Lincoln Riley. Riley is said to be leaving the team to take on the head coaching gig for the USC Trojans.

Upon hearing the news, Watt played it down and simply saw it as Kingsbury proving himself as a noteworthy coach.

The Cardinals are having a phenomenal 2021 season under Kliff Kingsbury, starting the campaign with a league-best 9-2 record. Since Arizona hired him in 2019, the team has improved each year. Now, they are poised to contend not only for the playoffs but also for the Super Bowl title.

When the Cardinals made the move to sign the unproven Klingsburry as their head coach, it was met with criticisms. However, there is no doubt the 42-year-old has proven himself to be one of the better coaches in the NFL.

Kingsbury has one year left in his contract, but with what he has shown so farm it's hard to imagine Arizona letting him walk away. Moreover, given the success he's having this year, it doesn't look like Kingsbury will be motivated to get back to the college ranks.

That might be JJ Watt's thought process as well. And clearly, he likes playing for Kingsbury.
