The Arizona Cardinals just dropped the biggest hint yet that defensive end JJ Watt could make his heroic return to the team in time for their Wild Card matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Apparently, Watt joined the team in their trip to LA where they'll face the Rams at SoFi Stadium. As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network highlighted, this paves the way for the star DE to be activated and play on Monday.

JJ Watt last played for the Cardinals in Week 7, during which he sustained his current shoulder injury while playing against the Houston Texans. It was initially deemed as season-ending, but the 32-year-old veteran has always said he'll try to get back this campaign.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury also expressed his optimism that Watt could make his return despite medical experts saying it's impossible, noting last December that he won't rule out anything as Watt has been “working like crazy.”

Now, by the looks of it, JJ Watt could really make his long-awaited return in time for the playoffs. He went through practice on Thursday, albeit at a “very limited” participation as the Cardinals assess if he can suit up for the Wild Card round.

For what it's worth, Watt's potential return couldn't come at a better time since the Cardinals need every help they can after they struggled to close out the regular season and lost four of their final five games.
