In the months that have followed the selection of former UCLA standout quarterback Josh Rosen in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, there has been plenty of attention around the Arizona Cardinals' quarterback situation.

Heading into the first week of the preseason, the Cardinals have placed offseason addition Sam Bradford as the starter with Rosen in the backup spot, according to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.

The Cardinals went out and spent good money on backup quarterback Mike Glennon this offseason, not knowing that Josh Rosen would fall into their laps.

Now, it’s the rookie in the second spot on the depth chart heading into the preseason, behind starter Sam Bradford.

This has come to be expected given that the Cardinals have remained firm that Bradford would get the first crack at the starting job to begin the 2018 campaign. This is something that had been supported by Rosen, who has praised the veteran leadership of the 30-year-old in the offseason and training camp. It also helps his case that he's under contract for $20 million this season that includes a $10 million signing bonus.

That said, Bradford has shown a significant amount of comfort and command with the offense over the offseason that has given the team plenty of confidence to roll with him as the starter at this point. The preseason should provide a better gauge if that is the right selection for the team as it will allow for both him and Rosen to showcase their ability on the field.

What should be noted is that Rosen has earned much praise from his teammates and coaching staff since joining the team. Although he isn't listed as the starter, he could have his opportunity to grasp that spot if Bradford struggles or continues to deal with nagging injuries.
