Some NFL stars might have reason to be more disgruntled at failing to reach a long-term contract with their respective teams, though that group does not include Arizona Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake.

Drake was one of the players not signed to an extension prior to Wednesday afternoon's deadline, but Drake said on Twitter he is “not too concerned” about his contract situation.

Drake iterated he is focused on the season ahead, and also encouraged his followers to stay safe and wear a mask amid the ever-looming presence of COVID-19.

The Cardinals acquired Drake from the Miami Dolphins last October, and the 26-year-old quickly established himself as the feature back in Arizona's backfield. He signed the transition tag in March, giving the Cardinals an essential hold on his roster spot.

Drake rushed for 643 yards on 5.2 yards per carry, also racking up eight rushing touchdowns. He gave the Cardinals a legitimate weapon in the backfield after an ineffective and injury-riddled season from David Johnson.

As Drake suggested, Cardinals should not fret over the two sides not reaching an agreement on an extension. Arizona clearly feels Drake is its running back for the future, considering they sent Johnson to the Houston Texans in March.

While Drake will be a free agent at the end of the year, the Cardinals are building something with Kyler Murray under center. Arizona acquired All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins and should continue to upgrade the offensive line.

Drake figures to be part of the picture, given his abilities both as a runner and receiver.
