The general consensus is that the Arizona Cardinals will be taking University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft next month, which could spell a quick end for 2018 first-round pick Josh Rosen.

Rosen had a rather rough rookie campaign, starting 13 games and throwing for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 55.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 66.7.

If the Cardinals do, in fact, go with Murray, Arizona will probably end up trading Rosen, so the youngster's time with the franchise may very well be limited.

However, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury heaped praise upon Rosen, saying that he has always thought very highly of him as a player:

“Josh is a tremendous player, I’ve always thought, watching him at UCLA,” said Kingsbury, according to Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official team website. “He played his best football in a spread system, some similarities to what we do. He’s a tremendous thinker, very cerebral, can throw it with anybody.”

Kingsbury was then asked about Murray, and he had this to say:

“What don’t you like? When you watch him play, he can run it, he can throw it, he’s a competitor,” he said. “… He is one of the better dual-threat players to ever play.”

Of course, Kingsbury is not going to trash Rosen or say anything that isn't positive about him. Not only does he have Rosen's trade value to think of, but what if the Cards decide not to draft Murray?

Right now, this should be seen as nothing but lip service.
