Earlier Thursday, it had been reported that the Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury had a tense meeting with team owner Michael Bidwell and general manager Steve Keim on Wednesday. However, NFL Network National Insider, Ian Rapoport, stated that no such meeting ever existed.

According to his sources, there “has been no meeting.”

Kliff Kingsbury has come under fire after the Cardinals struggled down the stretch. They were ousted last weekend by the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the NFL playoffs.

Kingsbury had led the Cardinals to an impressive 7-0 record to start the season. But the team lost five of it's final six games, ending in Los Angeles Monday night. In the loss, Arizona looked unprepared and were flat out embarrassed by the Rams, losing 34-11.

To put the performance into perspective, through three quarters, the Cardinals had 40 yards of offense. That is historically bad, leaving many to wonder if Kingsbury would be fired.

According to Mike Florio, the organization has never had the same head coach for longer than six seasons. That's despite the organization having existed for over 100 years. So, they are used to changing coaches, frequently.

The flip side to that coin, however, is the fact that Arizona lost arguably their best player. DeAndre Hopkins injured his hamstring in their first loss of the season to the Green Bay Packers and did not play again. Hopkins is obviously not easy to replace on any offense.

But with Rapoport reporting that the tense meeting never existed, it's probably safe to assume Kingsbury's seat is not as hot as many would like to think.
