After 14 seasons in the NFL, veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin decided to walk away from the game of football earlier this week. Boldin announced his intention to retire less than two weeks after signing with the Buffalo Bills.

With Boldin heading into retirement, the question of whether the longtime wideout has a legitimate case to be a Hall of Famer has become a hot topic of discussion. Former Arizona Cardinals teammate Kurt Warner recently chimed in on the subject after he earned his Hall of Fame honors, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“I might bang the table for Anquan Boldin because I think of all those guys he gets the least respect for how great he is. It amazes me, we want to keep looking at measurable and how fast guys are as opposed to just one of the greatest football players I ever played with.

“Competed more than anybody I ever played against. Wanted the ball in his hands. Was a difference maker. Everybody tries to get rid of him and he just goes and he’s the No. 1 receiver on that next team. So I believe he’s the one that gets the least amount of respect. So I would love to get on the table for him as well because I believe when you look at his overall numbers and what he’s done it’s incredible, as all those guys are.”

Boldin played with Warner for only a short time in Arizona. They were part of a dynamic trio along with Larry Fitzgerald that lasted from 2005 to 2009 and included a trip to the Super Bowl.

Although Boldin and Warner came up short losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII, both players had incredible careers and success with other teams during their time in the NFL. Boldin's best years, however, were when he was receiving passes from Warner in Arizona.

As his career comes to an end, Boldin walks away with 1,076 receptions, 13,779 receiving yards, and 83 total touchdowns. An impressive resume, to say the least.
