The Arizona Cardinals made a splash with the acquisition of former Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins this offseason. Unfortunately, the restrictions placed by the NFL in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have prevented him from getting properly acquainted with his new quarterback in Kyler Murray.

Hopkins said during an appearance on Jalen & Jacoby that he and Murray have already made plans to meet up and throw with the other wideouts, via Jess Root of the Cards Wire:

“We’ve definitely been communicating and talking football,” he said. “We plan on getting together pretty soon along with the other receivers.”

It is encouraging to see that the two biggest names on offense have done what they can to get their rapport going. Of course, the delay to the offseason does leave them with plenty ty of catching up to do ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

Fortunately, there is good reason to be optimistic that Hopkins will have no problem getting adjusted on the Cardinals. After all, he had played with his fair share of quarterbacks prior to the arrival of Deshaun Watson in Houston and he always managed to put up elite numbers. It is safe to assume that he will find a way to thrive once again in this Arizona offense that led quite the resurgence during the 2019 campaign.

The onus will ultimately fall on head coach Kliff Kingsbury to take advantage of the newfound star power at his disposal with the Cardinals. He has not been shy about expressing the high expectations for Murray in Year 2 and Hopkins will be an integral part of making it com to fruition.
