Kyler Murray isn't used to losing. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner led the Oklahoma Sooners to a 12-2 record and an appearance in the College Football Playoff during his lone season as a starter. He won 43 consecutive games and three straight state championships at Texas' Allen High School.

Needless to say, Murray is probably in for a rude awakening during his debut season in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, who went 3-13 a year ago and had the worst point differential in the NFL by a significant margin. He has no intention of losing in 2019, though. As Murray told team beat reporter Darren Urban on Thursday, he's never even considered the prospect of Arizona continuing to be among football's bottom-dwellers in the standings.

“I haven't really thought about losing, so I don't really know,” he said. “But I don't plan on it.”

Murray was named the Cardinals' starting quarterback even before the team opened training camp on Wednesday. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, he set the NCAA on fire after succeeding Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield at Oklahoma, throwing for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 69.0 percent of his passes, also rushing for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Expecting Murray to come anywhere near the level of play he reached with the Sooners during his NFL debut is setting yourself up for disappointment. But under the stewardship of first-year coach Kliff Kingsbury, whose innovative offensive concepts have been the topic of much discussion this offseason, Murray should enjoy moments of brilliance nonetheless.
