Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals, a brand-new rookie, has a different approach to his relationship with veteran linebacker Terrell Suggs.

Murray, 22, is entering his rookie season with the Arizona Cardinals after a Heisman Trophy winning college career at Oklahoma for the quarterback. Suggs, meanwhile, signed a one-year deal with Arizona after a 16-year tenure being the face of the Baltimore Ravens' defense.

Here's what Murray had to say about his new teammate (via Darren Urban):

“He’s old enough to be my dad. It’s not like we’re hanging out.”

“You need those type of guys. He prides himself on winning, he's won a lot, and I know culture is a big part of any organization or team.”

Suggs, 36, entered the NFL in 2003 when Baltimore selected him with the 10th overall pick out of Arizona State. He's a Super Bowl champion, seven-time Pro-Bowl LB, and has won both the defensive rookie of the year and defensive player of the year awards.

Despite getting on in years, Suggs has played in 16 games the last two seasons with the Ravens. Suggs tore his Achilles tendon in the season-opening bout during the 2015 season, though, and missed the rest of the year. Prior to that, he played in 32 more consecutive games.

During the 2018 season, Suggs recorded 34 combine tackles, seven sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 15 QB hits, and forced one fumble.

While they play on opposite sides of the ball, Kyler Murray and Terrell Suggs, separated by 14 years, have a lot to learn from each other as Suggs makes the most of his time with his first new team in longer than the age difference between him and his QB.
