DeAndre Hopkins has already established a reputation as arguably the best wide receiver in football. But as Hopkins prepares for his first year with the Arizona Cardinals, future Hall of Fame wideout Larry Fitzgerald said he is more impressed by Hopkins' makeup and dedication to his craft (via Kyle Odegard of the team website):

Hopkins is the lone major new addition among the wide receivers and is assimilating well. Fitzgerald said he has already made an impression by being punctual, taking notes and asking questions in the football portion of the meetings.

“I've known DeAndre since he was in college,” Fitzgerald said. “We've had a great relationship for the last eight, nine years. Somebody that I highly respect and admire the way he goes about his business. I couldn't be more happy to have him on the team. He's a wonderful person for Christian, Trent, Hakeem (Butler), Andy (Isabella), Kee (Johnson) and the other young guys to be able to learn from.”

The Cardinals' acquisition of Hopkins sent shock waves throughout the NFL.

Arizona swapped running back David Johnson and future draft consideration to the Houston Texans to bring Hopkins into the fold, giving second-year quarterback Kyler Murray a legitimate weapon opposite Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald's praise of Hopkins' work ethic and example as a leader speaks volumes. After all, Fitzgerald has been a model of consistent excellence throughout his career.

Hopkins has been named first-team All-Pro in three consecutive seasons. It seems he is looking for a fourth selection, setting an early tone with his new teammates as the Cardinals hope to reach the playoffs in 2020.
