Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is eager to improve on his Rookie of the Year campaign in 2019, according to Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald stated Murray is motivated to do what he can to take the next step in his development, adding the rest of the Cardinals' offense hopes to help Murray improve in his sophomore season (via Kyle Odegard of the team's website):

“Talking to him, he loves being around us,” Fitzgerald said. “He wants to take this to the next level and build on what he was able to accomplish last year, NFL Rookie of the Year. He's got a lot of guys who want to play well for him, and he wants to do the same for us. Hopefully we will be able to do it here pretty soon.”

Murray made a strong impression in his first season with the Cardinals.

The No. 1 overall pick completed close to 65 percent of his pass attempts for the Cardinals, throwing for 3,722 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 544 yards and four scores.

Murray should be encouraged by the moves the Cardinals have made to surround him with offensive talent.

Arizona acquired Kenyan Drake from the Miami Dolphins last October, giving the Cardinals a multidimensional weapon out of the backfield. But the real shocker came this past March, when the Cardinals traded running back David Johnson to the Houston Texans as part of a package to acquire All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The acquisition of Hopkins gives the Cardinals one of the best receiving duos in the league, as Fitzgerald continues to produce at the age of 36.

The Cardinals won just five games last year, and they will need better performances from the defensive unit and offensive line. But there is reason to believe they could contend for a playoff spot, particularly if Murray shows improvement in his second season.
