One of the biggest challenges that come with bringing in a new quarterback is getting them up to speed in the offense. Fortunately, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald does not think it will be a problem for quarterback Kyler Murray.

The Cardinals have not had much time to get an understanding of the new playbook. According to Mike Jurecki of the team’s website, Fitzgerald says no one knows it better than Murray does.

“He knows the system better than we do,” Fitzgerald said. “He can get us into any play at any time and then he has the ultimate weapon in the exit button.”

It may be a bit strange to see a rookie with a better grasp of the playbook than a veteran of Fitzgerald's caliber. Then again, Murray is hardly the only new face in Arizona. The arrival of head coach Kliff Kingsbury this offseason has brought on an entirely different scheme than what Fitzgerald has been accustomed to. Murray is more familiar with Kingsbury's approach at Texas Tech and it is safe to say that it has now been tailor-made to suit his strengths and weaknesses.

Regardless, Murray's ability to grasp the offense so quickly is a testament to his intelligence as a football player. Arizona will be relying heavily on his versatile skill set to lead a potential resurgence for a Cardinals offense that ranked as one of the worst groups in the league last season. There is no question that the Cardinals are hoping Fitzgerald can serve as a bit of a safety net for Murray moving forward.
