The Arizona Cardinals continue to rebuild their wide receiver room. According to Pro Football Talk, the team is signing veteran Michael Crabtree.

The Cardinals have done plenty of work to field a respectable wide receiver group in 2019. They retained all-time great Larry Fitzgerald to a one-year deal, and in free agency, signed both Kevin White and Damiere Byrd. Their most significant changes came through the draft: Andy Isabella, Hakeem Butler, and KeeSean Johnson were selected in the top six rounds.

Michael Crabtree played college ball at Texas Tech under Mike Leach. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who played and coached at Texas Tech, shares a similar playbook to Leach; both are Air Raid play-callers through and through.

A 10-year veteran, Crabtree has played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens. He's accumulated two 1,000+ yard seasons, in 2012 with the 49ers, and 2016 with the Raiders. In 2018, he played for the Ravens, started all 16 games, and tallied 54 receptions for 607 yards and three touchdowns.

In his career, Crabtree has a grand total of 633 catches for 7,477 yards and 60 touchdowns to his name. His career catch rate stands at 59.6%.

It's unknown where Crabtree fits within the Cardinals' new-look offense. Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, and Andy Isabella are considered to be the starters. Butler, White, and Johnson are slated as the backups. With Crabtree on board, the team appears set to carry seven receivers.

The signing of Crabtree likely marks the end of a Cardinals careers for a litany of other receivers, including Chad Williams and Trent Sherfield. One of Byrd or Pharoh Cooper may stay on as a returner.
