Soon-to-be free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins is set to be the biggest name on the market this offseason after the Washington Redskins went ahead and traded for veteran quarterback Alex Smith. As a result, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson has already gotten an early start on the recruiting process on behalf of the team.

The Cardinals were one of the disappointing teams that floundered in the 2017 season due to lackluster quarterback play. During an appearance on PFT Live, Peterson made his pitch to both Cousins and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles this offseason:

“Either him or Nick Foles,” Peterson said when asked who he wants to see at quarterback. “The only thing I’ll probably say we have better than Denver is that we play inside. You don’t have to worry about snow games, you don’t have to worry about cold games and 9 times out of 10 we don’t play a cold team late in December. I think that will add a couple more years to your career, Kirk.”

Arizona entered the offseason with glaring vacancies at head coach and quarterback. They managed to get their coach in former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Steve Wilks; however, their search for a quarterback continues. The decision carries even more importance with the uncertain future of star wide receiver Larry Fitgerald still hanging in the balance.

That said, Peterson certainly makes a convincing pitch, and the Cardinals have the assets to back it up. However, he is not the only defensive star to reach out to Cousins after Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller gave his pitch to the quarterback earlier this week.
