Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson will miss the first six games of the 2019 campaign as a result of a six-game suspension handed down by the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, but that won't stop him from playing in the preseason.

While Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said that it “remains to be seen” as to whether or not Peterson actually plays preseason games, the eight-time Pro Bowler seems prepared to follow his usual routine, which includes participating in the preseason:

“I want to attack this training camp just as I did all the previous ones,” Peterson said, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. “The only difference is I won't be available for Week 1. You take pride in being in shape, so my conditioning will always be tip-top shape. Because as a [defensive back], that's what we do. We run all day. So, that won't be a problem once I get back.”

For a guy who has never missed a game in his eight-year NFL career, missing six of them will certainly be rough, and Peterson is not looking forward to the time away:

“It's gonna be painful to watch,” Peterson said.

The 29-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he registered 54 tackles, a sack, a couple of interceptions, a fumble recovery and five passes defended.

Not only has Peterson made the Pro Bowl every year he has played in the league, but he has also earned First-Team All-Pro honors three times, last doing so in 2015.
