There had been plenty of speculation regarding the future of Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson during the 2018 NFL season. Fortunately, it appears the factors that once concerned him are now gone.

Peterson has long been a staple of this Cardinals defense. He said during an appearance onSiriusXM NFL Radio that he hopes to remain in Arizona for the rest of his career:

“Yeah, I would love to be a Cardinal for life, but things happen,” he said. “Hell, something could change next month. The things happen not only in football, but in the world in general. So, I would love to be a Cardinal for life. I would love to be one of those guys to bring this organization its first championship.”

It is encouraging to see that Peterson has switched his tune after he was clearly frustrated with what had transpired when he requested a trade last season. Of course, this was certainly understandable considering all the substantial changes that had been made and the struggles that the team endured because of it. At this point in his career, Peterson wants to at least be sure he is playing for a competent organization.

Fortunately, the eight-time Pro Bowler appears to be pleased with what he has seen from the new additions this offseason. The arrival of head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray could go a long way in ensuring that Peterson remains a Cardinal for life. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if he feels the same should Arizona continue to struggle in the 2019 NFL season.
