The Arizona Cardinals may have a legitimately tough choice to make as to who will be their starting quarterback to begin the season. They brought on veteran Sam Bradford to fill in that role, but rookie Josh Rosen has made a strong case for himself this offseason and could still win the job in training camp.

But if Cardinals star cornerback Patrick Peterson were given the choice, he’d pick the more known quantity to be his quarterback.

“Well, right now I'd probably take Sam due to his experience. Due to some of the records that he has in the league. Because when Sam is healthy and is on the field and has talent around him, he's a top-10 quarterback,” Peterson said on NFL Network per Marc Sessler of NFL.com.

“The biggest knock on Sam is just staying on the field. I think we have a pretty good opportunity to keep him on the field because last year he really didn't have to fix anything, just cleaning up his knee,” Peterson said. “… If he's on the field, we'll see where the chips stack and where they fall at the end of the season.”

The Cardinals coaching staff likely share Peterson’s sentiments with regard to Bradford. When healthy, Bradford has show he’s capable of performing at a high level. And obviously, he’s got the substantial edge over the rookie Rosen in terms of experience and should give the Cards a better chance to win right away. Unfortunately, he just hasn’t been able to stay healthy enough over the course of his career.

Bradford’s health will likely be a big factor in determining as to whether he does get that starting QB job for the Cardinals as Peterson predicts. But if he does go down once again, Arizona will at least have a promising replacement ready to step in.
