Six weeks into the 2018 NFL season and the Arizona Cardinals have become one of the worst teams in the league. Despite having a promising young quarterback in Josh Rosen, a future Hall of Famer in Larry Fitzgerald, and one of the NFL's elite running backs with David Johnson, the Cardinals are struggling and are on pace for another high draft pick.

After Week 6's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Cardinals have only one win on the season and are desperately trying to figure out how to right the ship. Amid these struggles, trade rumors have begun to surface with the latest involving veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson. However, head coach Steve Wilks denies that his star corner is on the trading block, via Kyle Odegard of the team's website.

Patrick Peterson became the latest Cardinals player subject to a trade rumor on Sunday, but coach Steve Wilks has no plans to deal the Pro Bowl cornerback.

When asked about the report following the team’s 27-17 loss to the Vikings, Wilks said “I don’t respond to things that are ludicrous.”

Although the team recently signed Johnson to a lucrative contract extension and appear confident Rosen is their quarterback of the future, there's a lot of work to be done in Arizona. Fitzgerald is likely playing his last season in the NFL meaning that position needs to be addressed as well as many others on both sides of the football.

It'll be interesting to see if the Cardinals do in fact end up making a move and if it will include a star player like Peterson. This season, however, trade going down or not, is likely already over with the Los Angeles Rams running away with the NFC West division and all the competition in the conference.
