The Arizona Cardinals showed signs of improvement on offense in Kliff Kingsbury's first year as head coach. Despite an unprecedented offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, left tackle D.J. Humphries is confident the new leadership will make sure it carries over into the 2020 NFL season.

Kingsbury managed to silence the doubt about his transition from college to the NFL last season. Humphries shared some high praise for his coach as one of the bright minds in the league, via Darren Urban of the official Cardinals website:

“Hey, let me tell you something. The guy's a wizard. But I won't tell you anything we're doing. We're running the ball left and we're running the ball right.”

Although Kingsbury was able to pass his first test as a head coach by showing signs of improvement, he now finds himself on equal footing with the rest of the NFL when it comes to preparing for the upcoming season amid an ongoing pandemic. Humphries' comments indicate that he is more than confident that the Cardinals will be able to follow through on the hype they generated this offseason with the lopsided acquisition of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

There is no question that the Cardinals now have more than enough firepower for Kingsbury to work with on offense. The onus will now fall on the offensive line to do their part in protecting quarterback Kyler Murray and establishing a push at the line of scrimmage for the run game. For Humphries, this means improving on the cadence after he was flagged for the sixth-most penalties in the league during the 2019 campaign.
