The Arizona Cardinals hit the news on Sunday for something that happened late Saturday night. Sadly, it didn't have anything to do with a preseason game.

Instead, it was team executive VP and COO Ron Minegar. Minegar was arrested on suspicion of a DUI.

The Arizona Cardinals were pretty quick to release a statement after Schefter's initial tweet. In that statement, they made it clear that they understood the seriousness of the situation.

Kudos to the Arizona Cardinals for using this as a chance to bring awareness to the seriousness of drunk driving.

However, hopefully, they don't just leave it at that. As many are quick to point out, players get cut, suspended, and disciplined for much less than this.  The Cardinals can use this as a chance to show they create everyone equally, no matter the standing in the organization.

Minegar has been with the Arizona Cardinals since 2000. He's been in their front office that entire time and was part of the organization when they made a run at a Super Bowl back in 2008. For those that don't remember, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat them in an absolute classic matchup.

His arrest comes just one year after Cardinals general manager Steve Keim was arrested himself for a DUI. The timing isn't all that great for the team. Especially considering it's not just relatively close to that arrest, but it's incredibly close to the start of the regular season.

Hopefully, this doesn't cause too big of a distraction for the team, and they can go into the season with blinders on. It would be a real shame if this put a damper on the rookie season of Kyler Murray.
