The pressure is mounting for Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. The Cardinals are 1-5 to start the season, in large part due to an anemic offense that’s second from bottom in the league in scoring.

McCoy could face even more scrutiny if the Cardinals offense once again fails to show up for their Thursday night clash with the Denver Broncos. However, McCoy claims he’s just treating this week like any other.

“We're preparing like every other week,” McCoy said, via the team's official website. “Our objective every week is to go out and win the next game we're playing. That's our focus.”

McCoy also reveals that he doesn’t have the time to consume the various media which continue to speculate about his future in Arizona.

“No offense, but I don’t watch a lot of TV,” McCoy said. “I don’t read papers. I don’t get on the internet. I’m too busy doing other things, putting plans together. And when my family is in town, I spend every minute I can with them, or talking to them at night when they’re in San Diego, things like that. I’ve been in this long enough (to not get wrapped up in the fervor).”

But while McCoy is wise to avoid external pressure about his job , he has to be feeling at least some of it. Head coach Steve Wilks’ recent comments about being “majorly” concerned by the offense and admitting his whole coaching staff is in danger of getting fired should indicate that he’s very much on the hot seat.

However, the only way for McCoy to save himself from the ax is for the Cardinals offense to finally start producing on the field. Given what they’ve shown through six weeks, though, that will be much easier said than done.
