There’s has been some buzz building lately about the Arizona Cardinals potentially trading away quarterback Josh Rosen after just one season and drafting much-hyped QB prospect Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Adam Schefter pointed out the possibility of that scenario in light of Kingsbury’s previous proclamation of his admiration for Murray. The New England Patriots have also been floated as a potential landing spot for Rosen should the Cardinals pull the trigger on a trade.

However, Patriots and Cardinals fans may not want to get ahead of themselves. A high-ranking Cardinals source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that Rosen trade would be “ludicrous” and “not happening.”

Rosen had a rough rookie season with the Cardinals. He was probably the least impressive of the five rookie QBs taken in the first round. He completed just 55 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games.

Although, it should be noted that he wasn't exactly placed in the best position to succeed. His offensive line was absolutely decimated with injuries, which was a significant factor in why he was sacked 45 times (seventh in the league).

Of course, that Cardinals source’s comment should be taken with a grain of salt. They obviously won’t tip their hand about any interest in dealing Rosen and risk losing any leverage in trade negotiations.

But on the other hand, there’s still a lot of time between now and the draft, and so many things can transpire until then — like the Cardinals deciding that trading Rosen isn’t as ludicrous as it seems.
