Throughout the NFL offseason and training camp, the Arizona Cardinals have had much of the attention fixated on their quarterback situation.

However, it appears that veteran quarterback Sam Bradford has the upper hand for the starting job for the 2018 campaign over rookie Josh Rosen as long he's healthy, according to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network.

“It’s pretty clear that if he’s healthy, he’s going to be the starting quarterback here.”

Since inking a one-year, $20 million deal with the Cardinals, he has held a grip hold over the starting job despite the addition of Rosen with the 10th overall pick in this year's draft. This notion was made more clear with the first depth chart coming out that list Bradford first in the order with the former UCLA product as the backup.

Bradford has shown throughout his career has dealt with multiple torn ACL injuries that have seen him deal with nagging knee ailments in the season that have followed. In fact, he has missed 14 games this past year due to issues that arise that marked the third time in his career that has missed last six games in a season. When healthy, Bradford has demonstrated that he can be a more than capable starter that was on display in the season opener in the 2017 campaign where he completed 27-of-32 passes for 346 passing yards and three touchdown passes against the New Orleans Saints.

Meanwhile, this allows for the Cardinals to bring Rosen along at their own pace with a proven starter in place as he gets acclimated to playing at the next level. At the same time, the 21-year-old has shown plenty promise on the practice field over the last several weeks that should see him earn some lengthy playing time in the preseason that could allow for him to gain valuable experience.
