The Kyler Murray era is one step closer to officially beginning for the Arizona Cardinals.

The No. 1 overall pick made his on-debut in the NFL on Thursday night during his team's preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, showing off the classic passing skills that many believe he lacked. Murray went 6-of-7 for 44 yards in 10 snaps, leaving the game for good following Arizona's opening series, which began deep in its own territory and failed to cross into opponent territory.

The 21-year-old's first completion in an NFL game came on his second play, with Murray taking the snap in the shotgun and quickly throwing to his left for a six-yard out to Trent Sherfield.

Murray took all 10 of his snaps from the shotgun, as the Cardinals utilized many different looks in the public's first official glimpse at rookie coach Kliff Kingsbury's college-style offensive system. They used four receivers three times with Murray in the game, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss, and the league's newest and most dangerous dual-threat quarterback didn't record a single rush, likely to ensure his health.

Murray set the college football world on fire in 2018 as a first-year starter, leading the Oklahoma Sooners to the College Football Playoffs by throwing for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 69.0 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns, arguably proving as effective a runner as any elite quarterback prospect in recent memory – including the Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson.

Expect Kyler Murray, entrenched as Arizona's starting quarterback of the present and future, to continue having a light workload for the remainder of the preseason.
