Carmelo Anthony’s immediate future is just full of uncertainty. He has long been rumored to being dealt by the New York Knicks, especially with the rift in his relationship with team president Phil Jackson. Both the Los Angeles Lakers and L.A. Clippers have emerged as a possible destinations for him, but now appears to be out of the picture, given his marital issues.

The 10-time All-Star forward has a very strong bond with his son, and apparently, is not interested to moving anymore, as it would mean being away from Kiyan, according to Frank isola of the New York Daily News.

“But things are complicated. Carmelo and his actress wife, La La, are estranged, and with Anthony having a close relationship with his only son, he is reluctant to move out of New York. According to a person familiar with Anthony's thinking, Carmelo is no longer enamored with playing in Los Angeles if it means having to be away from his son for an extended period of time.”

This may be the case, but it doesn’t guarantee that he’ll stay in The Big Apple, even if he has the last say by owning a no-trade option in his contract. If there will be a team that could entice Anthony to leave and pitch to him that he could fit well in their system, Anthony may still waive it and ultimately agree to be moved.

It’s still early days in the summer with a lot of wheeling and dealing yet to be done not just by the Knicks, but almost all teams as well. The Lakers and Clippers may not be as appealing to Anthony now as before, but there’s still a possibility of moving elsewhere, perhaps closer to New York, in order for him to be near his son and fly back home easily when he wants to.
