The Atlanta Braves received some tragic news on Thursday evening. Longtime public address announcer Casey Motter, affectionately known as the ‘Voice of Truist Park', has passed away suddenly at the age of 53, per Gabriel Burns and Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Casey Motter, the Braves’ public address announcer since 2007, died Wednesday, the team announced Thursday.

No cause of death is known at this time. Motter had been in the role as the Braves' public address announcer since 2007. A native of Smyrna, Georgia, Motter got his feet wet as a PA announcer for his son's youth football games.

Then-Braves general manager Frank Wren heard Motter at one of the games and asked him to audition for the role with the team. A lifelong Braves fan, Motter's death is heartbreaking news for the players, fans and Atlanta community.

Braves first baseman Matt Olson, who grew up a fan of the team, spoke about the terrible news, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Atlanta has always been a good place as far as the gameday experience. I only was a fan at Turner. It’s always been a place that cares about the fan experience and does it the right way and keeps fans engaged. It’s a sad, sad thing.”

Motter was a part of the Braves fan experience. He made coming to Truist Park a genuine fan experience. Braves manager Brian Snitker said it best.

“You get used to it every night,” Snitker said. “‘Helloooo baseball fans!’ … He’ll be missed, that’s for sure.”

Snitker is absolutely right. Motter, the ‘Voice of Truist Park', will be missed by the Braves and their fans. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
