The Cleveland Cavaliers got some unfortunate news Tuesday as it was announced Center Evan Mobley will miss two to four weeks with an elbow sprain.

NBA Senior editor for The Athletic, Shams Charania, reported.

Evan Mobley was having a solid rookie season for the Cavaliers. He was averaging just under 15 points per game, eight rebounds and over a steal and a block per game. Alongside Jarrett Allen, they were one of the more formidable front courts in the NBA.

Mobley 29 minutes in Monday's loss to the Boston Celtics; however, finished 0-11 shooting. The Cavs own twitter account posted the update as well.

The Cavaliers are having a surprisingly successfully season thus far. Cleveland is 9-6, which places them 5th in the Eastern Conference. They have not made the post season since 2018, so this is really a big blow to their hopes of making a post season run.

The Cavs have been particularly good on the defensive end, allowing only 101.1 points per game. That is the best in the East and only Denver allows less in the entire NBA. Mobley has been one of the key reasons for that success. He is a good rebounder, but more importantly, is a good rim protector.

Over the next month, expect Jarrett Allen to be forced into more minutes. The short term, things look a little more scary. Allen has already been ruled out of Wednesday's game with an illness. The team's other big men, Kevin Love and Lauri Markkanen have also been in and out of the lineup all season.

It will be tough sledding as they will face Brooklyn twice, Golden State and Phoenix over their next four games.
