Cleveland Cavaliers rookie big man Evan Mobley achieved a franchise record on Wednesday that even LeBron James failed to achieve. The USC product became just the second Cavaliers rookie ever to amass 300 points and 40 blocks in the first 22 games of his career, joining John “Hot Rod” Williams, who did so way back in 1986.

While LeBron may not have achieved this feat, he still set numerous Cavs rookie records and is the best player in the history of the franchise by a wide margin. James is an Ohio native and famously brought a championship to Cleveland for the first time in franchise history in 2016.

This was not after much drama and even burning of his jerseys when he left Cleveland for Miami in 2011. After winning two rings in Miami LeBron returned, got the aforementioned ring, and then ceremoniously left once again to join the Lakers. It’s safe to say that his relationship with Cleveland has always been a very confusing and entertaining one.

If Mobley can also bring a championship to Cleveland then maybe he will one day be mentioned as the best Cavalier player ever, but for now, he will have to settle for his rookie accolades. To go along with the 300 points (14 ppg) and 40 blocks (1.8 BPG), Mobley is also bringing in eight rebounds, almost three assists, and a steal a night. We are likely to see a lot of him at the NBA’s 2022 all-star weekend as he will most likely be playing in the rising stars challenge and possibly more.
