In the third showdown in the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, it featured many offensive fireworks from both teams.

This saw several huge individual scoring nights from the biggest stars in the series seemingly in each game. According to ESPN, it has led to a historic NBA Finals scoring record being set by two teams.

The Warriors were led by their dynamic duo of former league MVPs in Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Durant averaged a series-best 35.2 points on 55.6 percent shooting from the field and 47.4 percent from beyond the arc that helped him unanimously earn the NBA Finals MVP award. He was also the first player since Shaquille O'Neal to score at least 30 points in each of the five games in the NBA Finals when he did so in 2000.

Meanwhile, Curry was no slouch either averaging 26.8 points per game while knocking down multiple 3-pointers in each contest and scoring 20 or more points all but once in the series. He also recorded a double-double in each game including his first career triple-double in the playoffs.

On the Cavaliers' side of things, LeBron James was the leading scorer for the team where he averaged a triple-double with 33.8 points on 56.4 percent shooting from the field along with 10.0 assists and 12.8 rebounds per game. In the process, James became the first player in a losing effort in the NBA Finals to average a triple-double.

Lastly, Kyrie Irving also held his own averaging 29.4 points while scoring more than 20 points in all but one game. This includes recording 38 and 40 points in Games 3 and 4 of the series respectively.

Heading into the NBA Finals, there was an expectation for a lot of offensive firepower but it blew that completely away despite it going just five games. If both teams' core group of players remain together, there could foreseeably be another matchup or two to add to this trilogy next season and beyond.
