After several rumors about the Boston Celtics trading Dennis Schroder, they have finally found him a new home. The Houston Rockets will receive Schroder and send Daniel Theis back to Boston, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The Rockets will also receive Bruno Fernando and Enes Freedom, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Theis spent four years with the Celtics before being traded away at last year's deadline. He returns to Boston after averaging 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds with the Rockets this season after signing a four-year contract with them this past offseason. With rookie center Alperen Sengun shining, it made sense for Houston to trade Theis and clear the way for him.

Boston, after trading for San Antonio Spurs point guard Derrick White, had less of a need for Schroder. The Celtics were rumored to have been shopping him for a while despite his desire to stay with the team. Now, they head into the remainder of their season with a revamped point guard situation and an old friend to help provide relief at the center spot.

The Rockets add Fernando, a young big man who has't done much with the Celtics this season, and a veteran guard in Schroder. Wojnarowski reports that Houston will waive Freedom. Schroder could be waived, too, as the Rockets have plenty of other guards and may not need him. He should draw some attention in the buyout market if that happens.

Ultimately, the Rockets opted to take a more conservative approach at the deadline and roll with the players and picks they already have as they look to rebuild. Making this trade with Boston takes some salary money off their books and not much else.
