In a blockbuster trade days before the draft, the Boston Celtics traded the first pick in the 2017 NBA draft for the third selection owned by the Philadelphia 76ers. Along with that pick, the Sixers sent a 2018 Lakers first rounder, protected 2-5. If the picks falls out of that range, the Celtics would receive one of Philadelphia or Sacramento's first round picks in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The move allowed Philly to select Markelle Fultz, while the Celtics continued to stack draft picks.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge now owns seven first round selections in the next three drafts. One of the most valuable is certainly the Lakers' first rounder.

There's a chance L.A. is a bottom-five team next season, meaning the Celtics might end up with two top-five picks in the 2018 Draft.

Reddit user ‘joffreysucks' actually calculated the odds for the Celtics to own that selection. Based on the premise that the Lakers will be a bottom-five team in the whole league, the calculation said that there is 70.55% chance that this pick goes to Boston.

However, with more and more rumors floating around about Paul George joining the Lakers, this might not go exactly to plan for Boston. If the Lakers end up getting George, the C's would likely get the pick they traded back for in 2019. Under trade stipulations, the 76ers will keep the better of the two selections (Sacramento and Philadelphia).

The worst scenario for the Celtics is if Philadelphia is a much better team in 2019 than now. Under the premise that the Kings will not improve much in two years, the Celtics would end up with a mid or late first round pick, while the Sixers would select earlier.
