Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell has sent out an update after reports surfaced of him being rushed to the hospital following a health scare.

For those missing some context: Russell, who is synonymous with the NBA, had been rushed to the hospital, according to numerous reports.

TMZ was the first to break the news, as the media outlet relayed the following information about the Celtics great:

Law enforcement sources tell us … an ambulance was called to Russell’s home in the Seattle area Friday night, and the 84-year-old Celtics legend was rushed to a nearby hospital.

We’re told Bill was having heart trouble and shortness of breath … and is still hospitalized. We’ve reached out to get an update on his condition.

With the report only being live for a short period of time, the Celtics legend has already released the following update:

The part about drinking enough is some solid humor.

The 84-year-old is a five-time MVP and 12-time All-Star. Bill Russell also played his entire 13-season career in the 1950s and 1960s with the Boston Celtics. In turn, the franchise retired his No. 6 in 1972, after he led the franchise to winning 11 NBA championships.

Somewhat lost in history, though not so much with Boston, was Russell’s stints as the head coach for both the Celtics as well as the Seattle SuperSonics and the Sacramento Kings.

While the initial news was obviously a big time scare for people who love the legend, at least the update provided relatively good news. Thank goodness.
